RGD DesignThinkers 2020 Poster Advertisement
Redesigned a poster advertisement inspired by Peter Max for a fictional virtual RGD DesignThinkers conference in 2020, intended for the Advertising and Copywriting course.
The Problem
DesignThinkers is Canada's largest graphic design conference, delving into creativity, the design journey and the evolution of design ideology. This project aims to create a visual identity for the conference, drawing inspiration from an artist who has significantly influenced art and design while adhering to established visual guidelines. For this project, I chose American-based artist Peter Max. While the original design, created in 2020, pays respect to Peter Max, refining the typography and overall composition can establish a more polished and professional-looking result, which will help convey a better message and create a more visually appealing layout.

The Solution
The poster has been redesigned to incorporate the iconic style of Peter Max. It features bright and bold colours, gradients, and intricate designs that create a visually striking piece. The typography is inspired by magazine advertisements popular in the mid to late 1960s, giving the poster a nostalgic touch while maintaining a modern and sophisticated appearance that is easy to read. The result is a captivating advertisement that respects the artist and the past while remaining fresh and current. This poster is a valuable lesson for current and upcoming graphic designers: design doesn't have to be tedious or lacking in creativity. Instead, it can be a vibrant and exciting medium for artistic expression, which is the most rewarding aspect of graphic design.
