Starbucks Nasdaq Marketside Tower Advertisement
Post-Secondary Project
Animated for the Motion Graphics course, this is a ten second motion graphic animation promoting Starbucks and the euphoric feeling one gets from a cup of coffee.
The Problem
This project involves creating a ten second animated advertisement for the Nasdaq Marketside Tower featuring a well-known brand of choice. It requires brainstorming ways to promote the brand's goods and services in less than eleven seconds, grabbing passersby's attention yet ensuring that the promotion abides by the company's brand guidelines. For this project, I chose Starbucks owing to my interest in coffee and the company's widespread recognition. The challenge here is to capture the brand's essence and design a visually appealing narrative that will have their target audience engage with Starbucks within the time constraint.

Original Storyboard
The Solution
With the time constraint in mind, the idea is to capture the euphoria one gets from drinking a cup of Starbucks coffee, similar to one's morning coffee. My original concept had the man's head floating off the body after a sip of coffee. The upper half of the head would then lift, revealing his brain. Psychedelic graphics would then appear, demonstrating how Starbucks coffee stimulates creativity and energizes the mind. However, given the short length of the advertisement, I thought it was best to refine the concept to focus on a more straightforward yet equally impactful visual. In the end, the final animation depicts the person sipping on Starbucks coffee with an immediate expression of delight spreading across their face. Dynamic visuals of vibrant bursts of energy and swirling stars accompany this moment, which symbolizes the burst of energy and euphoria that Starbucks brings to their consumers.
